Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival At Addis Ababa Bole International Airport
Our Dejene Ethiopia Tours representative will meet and greet you as you exit baggage claim and transfer you to the hotel. Spend the night at a hotel in Addis Ababa.
Day 2: Drive To Arab Minch Through Wolayta Sodo
Start your adventure with a morning drive to Arba Minch (505 km from Addis). Stop on the way for a visit to the Tiya Stelae (90 km from Addis). You’ll get a chance to enjoy a nice lunch at Wolayta Sodo (330 km from Addis), and visit the Wolayta Sodo Museum. The drive then continues to Dorze (20 km before Arba Minch/ 500 km from Addis), where you’ll be able to visit a Dorze village. The Dorze are renowned for their tall and beehiveshaped houses, amazing weaving styles, and overall lifestyle. Arrive in Arba Minch in the late afternoon and check in to a lodge before having dinner. Spend the night in Paradise or Swaynes Lodge.
Day 3: Visit To Nech Sar National Park And A Boat Trip On Lake Chamo
Start the morning with a visit to the nearby Nech Sar National Park. The park is a natural habitat for several wild animals: Zebras, Gazelles, Antelopes, and others. Break for lunch in Arba Minch. After lunch, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Chamo and admire the huge crocodiles, hippos, and a variety of birds. Spend the night at a lodge.
Day 4: Drive To Jinka Via Key Afar
Take a morning drive to Jinka (270 km from Arba Minch). On the way to Jinka, stop in Konso (90 km from Arba Minch), where you can visit the Konso Village. The Konso are a highland people renowned for their colorfully costumed dresses, impressive terracing of land (recently registered as World Heritage by UNESCO), and engraved wooden statues used as grave markers. Have lunch in Konso. Then continue to Jinka and check in to a resort. Spend the night at Jinka Resort or Jinka Eco-Omo Lodge.
Day 5: Excursion To Mursi Village Through Mago National Park
Enjoy a morning drive to Mursi (55 km from Jinka) and visit the village of the Mursi tribe (famous for their attractive culture; women inserting large clay plates into their lower lips and stick fighting among young boys – if available at time of arrival). Return to the Mago National Park, and explore the park if it’s not raining. Drive back to Jinka for lunch. After lunch, you will visit the nearby village and museum in Jinka. Spend the night at Jinka Resort or Jinka Eco-Omo Lodge.
Day 6: Drive To Turmi, Hammer Tribe Town
Drive to Turmi (142 km from Jinka), and stop to visit an interesting village on the way. Travel onward to Key Afer and stop for a visit to the local market. Pause for a lunch break at Key Afer. Continue to Turmi, and visit an interesting market place along the way – if available at the time of arrival. Arrive at Turmi in the early evening. Spend the night at Buska or Turmi Lodge.
Day 7: Excursion To Omorate To Visit The Dassench/ Geleb Tribe
Get to Omorate with an early morning drive and visit the Dassench/Geleb tribe (75 km from Turmi). Continue with a boat trip on the Omo River and visit the Dassench/Geleb village. Return to Turmi for lunch. And then walk to the Hamer Village to explore the Hamer tribes (best known for their elaborate hairstyles, body paintings, using clay and vegetable pigments to make fantastic patterns on their faces, chests, arms, and legs) and attend a bull jumping event – if available at the time. As evening settles, you will be driven back to the lodge.Spend the night at Buska or Turmi Lodge.
Day 8: Excursion To Murille To Visit Karo Village
Start the day with a morning drive to Murille and visit the Karo tribe (62 km from Turmi). Return to Turmi for lunch. The rest of the day can be spent on personal ventures, relaxing, or strolling around the area. Spend the night at Buska or Turmi Lodge.
Day 9: Drive To Araba Minch Via Arebore – Tsmaye
Your driver will bring you to Araba Minch (290 km from Turmi) via Arebore-Tsmaye. Stop for lunch in Konso before proceeding to Araba Minch. Spend the night at Paradise or Swaynes Lodge.
Day 10: Flight Back To Addis Ababa
Drive back to Addis Ababa (325 km from Yiregalem). Stop for lunch at Lake Langano, Sabana Beach Resort. Arrive back in Addis in the late afternoon, where you can shop for souvenirs. At last, enjoy a farewell dinner. According to your scheduled departure, you will be transferred to Bole International Airport for your return flight back home.
