Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa
Explore the Capital Upon your arrival at Bole International Airport, we warmly welcome you to Addis Ababa, the vibrant capital of Ethiopia. Whether you arrive in the morning, afternoon, or evening, we’ll be ready to start your adventure. Tour the Trinity Cathedral, the resting place of Emperor Haile Selassie, and immerse yourself in Ethiopian culture and history at the Ethnographic Museum. Visit the enthralling Entoto Hills and Maryam Church for panoramic city views. En-route, experience the lively Sheromeda traditional cloth market and explore the bustling Mercato or Sholla Market. In the late afternoon, fly to Mekele.
Day 2: Mekele to Ahmedela
Camel Caravans and Sunset Meet our support vehicles and drive to Ahmedela via Berhaile, where you’ll encounter camel caravans against the backdrop of dramatic sunsets. Camp in this awe-inspiring landscape for a night of unforgettable experiences.
Day 3: Lake Asale and Dalol Excursion
Salt Workers and Colorful Formations Visit Lake Asale and witness the salt workers as they cut bricks of salt from the lake bed. Observe the bricks being sold in the market and loaded onto camel caravans for transportation to the highlands. Proceed to Dalol and marvel at the mesmerizing geological formations created by the hot springs, boasting vivid colors from sulfur, potash, and salt.
Day 4: Erta Alle Volcano and Lake Afdera Hot Springs
Return to Addis Ababa Drive to Dodom and embark on a 4- kilometer trek to reach the breathtaking Erta Alle volcano lake, sitting 613 meters above sea level. Return to vehicles and journey to Lake Afdera, famous for its therapeutic hot springs. Refresh with a shower in Mekele before taking an early evening flight back to Addis Ababa.
