Itinerary
Day 01: Addis Ababa - Bale Mountains National Park
Fly from Addis to Gondar with Ethiopian Airlines. In Gondar, you’ll meet up with our drivers who’ll bring you to Sankaber, the entryway to the Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Meet and greet your guides as you get ready for the adventure to come. Overnight Camping (B, L, D)
Day 02: Trekking Simien Mountains National Park
Trek from Sankaber to Geech (3,600m elevation), which will take roughly 5 – 7 hours. Within the first one and half hours, you will be able to see the Jinnbar River and falls, which you will eventually get to cross a bit later in the day. On the other side of the river, we continue to ascend for about 2 hours to reach Geech. The lush scenery is fantastic, and a throng of Gelada Baboons are often seen along the way. Day 03: Trekking Simien Mountains National Park
Continue the adventure with a nice trek from Geech to Chenek (3,620m elevation); venture along the 4,000-meter breathtaking Enatye escarpment before descending towards Chenek. Both the Walia Ibex and the Gelada Baboons are frequently seen in the area. Overnight Camping (B, L, D)
Day 04: Trekking Simien Mountains National Park
Enjoy a day composed of a fun trekking adventure starting from Chenek (3,200m. elevation). You get to explore the brilliant views of the Simien Mountains, and the incredible wildlife therein. The day is dedicated to the National Park and Ethiopia’s stunning landscape. You’ll have plenty of time to take pictures and to simply marvel at the captivating scenery. Overnight Camping (B, L, D)
Day 05: Simien Mountains National Park - Gondar
Continue your adventure with sightseeing in the morning, taking in all that which the Simien Mountains have to offer. After lunch, begin the departure back to Gondar where you’ll spend the night. Overnight Hotel (B, L, D)
Day 06: Gondar - Addis Ababa
Fly back to Addis Ababa. Once in Addis, you get to relish a savory dinner at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant, which features dancers and musicians representing some of the nation’s numerous ethnic groups. And if needed, your driver will carry you to the airport for a late-night departure. (B, L, D)
