Day 1

Fly to Lalibela - Explore the Rock-Hewn Churches

In the morning, catch the Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 120 (11:40 AM – 12:40 PM) to Lalibela. Upon arrival, our team will transfer you to your hotel. After a delicious lunch, immerse yourself in the wonder of Lalibela’s Rock-Hewn Churches, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marvel at the intricate craftsmanship of these eleven rock churches, including Bete Giyorgis, the iconic Church of Saint George, and other magnificent places of worship. Overnight at Lalibela Hotel.

Day 2

Discover Neakuto Leab Church - Fly to Dire Dawa, Drive to Harar

Early in the morning, we’ll take you to Neakuto Leab Church, a serene place of worship attributed to King Lalibela’s successor, nestled in a natural cave. Here, ancient stone receptacles collect precious holy water that drips from the cave roof. After this spiritual experience, we’ll fly you back to Addis Ababa and onward to Dire Dawa. From Dire Dawa, you’ll embark on a scenic one-hour drive to Harar, surrounded by picturesque mountains. Delve into Harar’s rich history as you visit the House of Arthur Rimbaud, the renowned French poet who once resided in this charming city. Explore Harar’s old walled town, “Jugal,” with a knowledgeable local tour guide. For those interested, a visit to Harar Brewery is a delightful option. Coffee Culture and Historic Exploration - Return to Addis Ababa

Uncover the history of Harar as you explore its ancient mosques and shrines. Later, we’ll drive back to Dire Dawa to visit the vibrant spice market and the historic old Train station, founded by the French in the 1900s.
